Kristin Acosta, FNP-C, is a compassionate nurse practitioner deeply rooted in the Berwick community, where she lives with her spouse, Jody, and their two children.
With a strong foundation in healthcare, Kristin has been a registered nurse since 2011 and a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2020, specializing in internal medicine at Prevention Plus. Her extensive experience has equipped her with a profound understanding of patient care and a commitment to improving lives.
Now, Kristin is excited to bring her expertise to her new role as a functional medicine and hormone replacement therapy provider. She is passionate about uncovering the root causes of health issues, offering tailored solutions that empower her patients to thrive. Kristin’s approach to functional medicine is both holistic and innovative, ensuring each patient receives a personalized plan that addresses their unique needs. In her hormone replacement therapy practice, she combines cutting-edge techniques with a warm, empathetic touch, helping patients restore balance, boost energy, and rediscover vitality.
In her free time, Kristin enjoys reading, cooking, and spending quality time with her family at their camp, where they create lasting memories and unwind together. Sarah Romero
Nurse Practitioner
Sarah Romero, FNP-C, is a dedicated nurse practitioner bringing her passion for personalized, root-cause-based health care to St. Mary Parish. Originally from Morgan City, Sarah now resides in Berwick with her husband, Cole, and their three children.
With a robust background in nursing, Sarah has been a registered nurse since 2011 and became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2014. She spent the first 10 years of her Nurse Practitioner career in cardiology, honing her skills in patient-centered care. Currently, she provides internal medicine and hospital-based care with Prevention Plus.
Now, Sarah is thrilled to embrace her new role as a functional medicine and hormone replacement therapy provider, where she brings a transformative approach to health care. With a deep commitment to uncovering the root causes of health challenges, Sarah designs highly individualized treatment plans that empower her patients to achieve lasting wellness. Her functional medicine practice integrates advanced diagnostics with a holistic perspective, ensuring comprehensive care that addresses the whole person. Sarah combines evidence-based methods with a compassionate touch, helping patients restore hormonal balance, enhance energy, and improve overall quality of life. She is eager to serve her local communities, guiding local members toward vibrant health with her expertise and dedication.
In her free time, Sarah loves traveling, cheering on her children at sporting events, and exploring new learning opportunities, which fuel her passion for growth in both her personal and professional life.

Emily Alpha
Pharm. D.
Emily R. Alpha, Pharm.D., is a lifelong resident of the Berwick area, deeply committed to serving her community with innovative health solutions.

Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Toxicology and Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM). In 2016, she proudly received her Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from ULM, solidifying her foundation in pharmaceutical care.
With a passion for tackling complex cases that demand unconventional approaches, Emily brings a wealth of expertise to her role in functional medicine and hormone replacement therapy. She holds an SIDP Antimicrobial Stewardship Certification, an Anticoagulation Therapy Management Certification, and is a PCCA Certified Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Master.
Currently, she is pursuing an Integrative and Functional Pharmacy Certification, further enhancing her ability to address the root causes of health concerns with personalized, holistic strategies. Emily’s hormone replacement therapy practice focuses on restoring balance and vitality through tailored treatments, while her functional medicine approach integrates drug-induced nutrient depletions and a patient-centered mindset to deliver transformative care.
Outside of her practice, Emily enjoys cooking, gardening, and cherishing moments with her husband and three children. She is excited to bring her expertise and dedication to her local community, helping patients achieve optimal wellness through functional medicine and hormone replacement therapy.
William A. Cefalu, Jr., M.D.

Dr. William Cefalu, a native of Morgan City, brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion to Integrative Health, serving his hometown community with a focus on innovative and preventative healthcare.​
A proud graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Biology,
Dr. Cefalu attended medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He completed his residency training at Earl K. Long Medical Center in 2013. Dr. Cefalu is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. He remains a trailblazer in preventative medicine and holistic health solutions, with an expertise for helping patients achieve sustainable weight loss goals.
